Newborn & Toddler Photoshoot

Clients are often nervous about preparing for a newborn photo session, especially if it also involves young siblings. However, we highly recommend you dive in for the adventure and magic of a newborn and toddler photoshoot – it’s sooooo worth it!

We speak from personal experience of life with three kiddos of our own. We TOTALLY understand that a photoshoot can feel stressful for an older sibling (and for mom and dad, too!). We want you to know that we get toddlers, and we’re going into the session prepared with many tricks up our sleeves and with the knowledge that it’ll likely take a bit more time and effort.

Our biggest TIP for these sessions is to LET US DO THE TALKING. Not only will we lead your family through the steps to get all the great shots and combinations we recommend, but we also find from our experience that toddlers tend to listen to strangers better in the first 15-20 min of meeting someone new.

If your toddler is ready and excited to follow our cues and jump right in, we’ll roll with that and vice versa. If they’re feeling camera shy, we’ll play peek-a-boo or Simon Says, or other interactive games to make it fun and inviting.  We can also work with the newborn and parents until the toddler feels more comfortable and ready. 

We really do let the older sibling lead. We play with them and work them into the photoshoot as they are. These moments are precious, not annoying or disruptive. Trust us: the candid, fun-loving, and curious nature of a toddler during a newborn shoot makes for incredibly adorable and memorable photographs.
